CAAST School of Dance & Theatre offers professional classical ballet, jazz, tap, and other forms of dance training to all students regardless of their ability or their intentions in studying. In addition to dance, CAAST offers Glee and Musical Theater classes in order to expose students to a variety of performing arts pathways, while broadening their opportunities as young performers. We emphasize nurturing well-rounded dancers as performers. We understand that good dance and performance training benefits not only students’ physical development, but their mental, emotional, and social development as well.
Our mission is to motivate students to strive for their greatest potential. We believe that with the proper opportunities, encouragement, and specialized training, our students will lead enriched and inspired lives.
The school is graded. Advancement from one level to the next is usual but not automatic. Each student is expected to maintain the standard of his or her level, which includes physical proficiency, good attendance and a positive attitude in class. Beginning students over 12 years of age and intermediate students over 18 will be accepted into the children's classes on a pre-approval basis only. They are welcome to study in the teen and adult divisions.
Ballet Classes: Children 4-7 years old begin in the PreBallet levels, followed by basic ballet technique for the following three years. Pointe work is added in the fourth year for students at least 10 years old. In the fifth and advanced levels, variation classes are added. We also have special classes and/or summer intensives in Acting for Dancers, Miming, Music Theory for dancers, Dance History, Movement Dynamics, Mask, Pilates, Improvisational dance and choreography.
Additional Classes: Jazz, Tap, Modern, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Acro/Tumbling, Musical Theater, and Glee classes and taught by professionals in their fields. Additional classes are based on age and skill level.
